Print Cards for Jira
Print Cards prints Jira issues and work items as clean, cut-ready cards for your physical board — for sprint planning, daily standups, PI planning, and refinement.
Who this is for
The app is for Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and agile teams on Jira Cloud who run planning sessions on physical boards and need printed cards that mirror their digital board. It works in both team-managed and company-managed projects.
How to use it
- 01Open Print cards
Launch from a board, backlog, sprint, or issue action, from search results, or from the Print Cards project tab. The live preview opens with the current context loaded.
- 02Pick the scope
Print the active sprint, a future sprint, the whole board, or the backlog — the scope dropdown lists everything available in the project.
- 03Select the exact work items
A per-issue checklist lets you select all, none, or hand-pick the stories for today's session. Jira rank order is preserved.
- 04Choose a layout
Four densities — 2, 4, 8, or 16 cards per page — on A4 or Letter, with cut lines. The preview shows the exact printed pages.
- 05Print or save as PDF
The browser print dialog handles printing and PDF export. Cut along the lines and put the cards on your board.
What's on a card
- Issue key, summary, and issue type and priority icons
- Status, story points, assignee, epic, and due date
- Subtasks printed as a compact checklist inside their parent card — never as loose cards
- Jira rank order preserved across pages
Privacy and permissions
Print Cards fetches data in the browser as the current Jira user through Atlassian Forge bridge APIs, so existing permissions apply automatically. The app uses six read-only scopes (including read:jira-work), has no Forge storage, no vendor backend, and no external egress — nothing leaves Atlassian.
Current limitations
- There is no custom template designer — layouts are fixed by design.
- Attachment contents and images inside descriptions are not printed.
- Printing uses the browser print dialog; PDF export is the browser's built-in Save as PDF.
- The app is read-only: it never modifies issues, boards, or sprints.
Troubleshooting
If issues are missing from the preview, confirm the current user can see them in Jira and that they match the board filter, then reopen the Print cards action. If the printed page differs from the preview, check the print dialog's paper size and scaling (100%, no fit-to-page). If the problem continues, contact support.
